Kilele Son Cultural Center

Established in 1999, it offers a variety of services and products centered around this rich cultural heritage. It provides:

Candombe classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students, taught by experienced instructors. 

Handcrafted percussion instruments, including various types of tamboriles (Candombe drums). 

Repair services for all types of drums, aiming to restore their original sound and quality.

Dow’s Musical Foundation

Dow’s Musical Foundation (DMF) is a non-profit organization based in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of steel pan music. Established in 2004 by Isidore “Mighty Dow” York, a renowned figure in the Caribbean music scene, the foundation offers music education, workshops, and entertainment, emphasizing cultural preservation.  

DMF provides steel pan music lessons to students of all ages, aiming to nurture talent and instill a love for this unique musical art form.  Plus, the foundation actively participates in cultural events and offers live performances, enriching the island’s cultural landscape. 

  • Through programs targeting young performers aged 8 to 17, DMF organizes events like the annual Calypso and Road March eliminations, providing platforms for youth to showcase their talents. 

By fostering an appreciation for steel pan music, Dow’s Musical Foundation plays a vital role in maintaining and celebrating Sint Maarten’s rich musical heritage.
